Telecom Egypt submits formal offer to acquire more 4G spectrum
Telecom Egypt (TE) [ETEL.CA] has submitted a formal offer to the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to acquire the 4G spectrum not taken by the mobile network operators (MNOs), according to Maged Othman, Chairman of the company. NTRA is yet to respond to TE’s request at its BoD meeting on 10 October. NTRA will also consider offering the unwanted spectrum in an international bid. Othman added that TE would not be required to dispose of its 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt (VFE), now that the latter will not offer the 4G service.
