Tax Authority finishes VAT executive regulation, prepares rebate system for tourists
The Tax Authority has finished the Value-Added Tax (VAT)'s executive regulation, which details the VAT Law, and is preparing to present it to Minister of Finance, Amr Al Garhy, for it to be issued by a ministerial decree in November. The Authority is also setting up a rebate system for inbound tourists who purchase goods under the VAT, conditional on the purchase taking place no longer than three months prior to requesting the debate and providing a receipt, VAT rebate form and passport. The VAT's executive regulations will determine the amount to be rebated, according to a government source, who added that 5% administrative charge will be deducted. This contradicts with earlier statement by Tax Authority Chief, Abdel Moneim Mattar, that these were drafted and will be issued by Finance Minister, Amr El Garhy, in early November (Al Masry Al Youm, Al Borsa)
