Suez Cement is now a HeidelbergCement subsidiary upon the latter’s acquisition of Italicementi
Suez Cement (SUCE.CA) became effectively 55%-owned by global cement producer, HeidelbergCement, upon the Heidelberg Cement’s acquisition of 45% of Italcementi S.pa, that had previously owned 55% of Suez Cement (prior to the acquisition). The global merger offers significant potential for value creation, with the realisation of synergies, as HeidlebergCement vows to focus on integrating Italcementi into the group, according to Berd Scheifele, Chairman of the management board of HeidelbergCement. Upon the acquisition, HeidelbergCement group globally became: the number one producer of aggregates, number two in cement production and number three in ready-mixed concrete. (Company disclosure)
