Shura council to vote this week on universal healthcare act
The Shura council is set to vote this week on the proposed universal healthcare insurance act, to be later delivered to the head of state if the proposal secures a majority vote, according to a Shura member. The Shura member clarified to Sabq news that the insurance mechanism would initially have high costs on the government, but would decline in the long-run as Saudi citizens head to work in the private sector that will be responsible for their insurance. As per news announced earlier this month, the government is reportedly planning on privatising all state-owned hospitals through government-operated companies that will own, along with hospitals' employees, the hospitals.
