SEC starts off partially 2,640 MW Jeddah South power-plant project, linking 660 MW capacity
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) (5110.SE) has started partial operations at its 2,640 MW Jeddah South power plant cSAR12bn project, as it successfully operated and linked the first stream unit of 660 MW to the electricity grid, after it had started working on the project three and a half years ago. The added capacity will aid in meeting the growing electricity demand from the western region, especially in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Earlier in 2012, SEC announced that it would be using super critical boilers that allow the plant to reach fuel consumption efficiency of up to 40%. (Reuters)
