Saudi generates SAR53.7bn in revenues from tourism
The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) disclosed in its latest report that domestic and inbound foreign tourism revenue reached SAR53.7bn this year. Last year, outgoing Saudi tourists spent SAR24.1bn abroad, up by 22% compared to local tourism which increased by about 6%. Local tourism grew by 1% overall, while inbound tourism increased by 5.6% over the year. The number of tourists at home reached 15.4mn in 2015 (up 3%), compared with 6.4mn departing tourists annually. Local tourism expenses amounted to SAR15.3bn. Inbound tourism expenditure is the highest spending group within the sector at SAR5,120 per capita (SAR38.4bn), compared to SAR3,020 per capita for the outbound tourism sector. (Arab News)
