Saudi Electricity to ink seven MoU’s in the energy segment during Prince Salman’s visit to China and Japan

Saudi Electricity Company (5110.SE) is set to sign seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Chinese and Japanese companies, that cover financing, investment, development and operations in the energy sector, on the sideline of Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman's visit to China and Japan. The planned MoUs include four Chinese companies: i) Shanghai Electric (three-years): for nationalising the industries and services related to the Energy industry; ii) China National Electric (two years): for financing, investing, establishing, operating and maintaining electrical, thermal and renewable energy plants in the Kingdom, in collaboration with Aramco; iii) Huawei (three years): for collaboration in the Networks, smart meters, and solar energy business segments; iv) ZTE (three years): for collaboration in the networks, smart meters and solar energy businesses, in addition to investing, financing, and training for nationalising telecom and energy industries. In addition to three MoU’s with Japanese firms, including: v) Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) (five-years): for demand side management (DSM), efficient energy consumption, aiming at improving Load Management and reducing energy Capital expenditure in the kingdom; vi) JGC Corporation (two-years): for the establishment of waste- to-energy plants; and vii) Mitsubishi (two-years): a non-binding MoU for financing, investing, establishing electric, thermal and renewable energy plants. The MoU’s will be signed by end of this week, will be valid from the date of signing, and imply no commitments on SEC. (Company disclosure)
