Saudi Electricity announces amendment of electricity tariffs will have no impact on company
The Saudi Electricity Company announced that, according to a letter received from the Ministry of Finance, the company will start paying the government fees equivalent to the difference between the current and new tariff, which will be applied in Jan 2018. The company further clarified that there will be no significant impact on its revenues or operating costs. It is worth noting that the letter acted on a Royal Decree that requires a gradual correction of energy products’ prices, which gave the Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority the green light to amend the tariff for the sale of electric power to some categories of subscribers and change in some consumption segments.
