Saudi Binladin receives cUSD1bn from government to pay workers
Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) has reportedly received between USD800mn and USD1bn from the government to honour unpaid wages owed to hundreds of its workers, reported Arabian Business, quoting an article on the Wall Street Journal. It remains unknown whether Saudi Oger has or will receive, a similar cash injection from the government to help it pay its workers. The Indian Authorities had agreed with the Saudi Arabian authorities to allow workers to renew their residency permits or fly home, free of charge. It was also reported in August that the Indian Consulate had stepped in and distributed food packages to stranded workers. (Arabian Business)
