Saudi Binladin Group wins Maldives airport terminal contract

Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) has secured a contract to construct a new passenger terminal at the Maldives International Airport, which will cost a total of USD0.8bn, of which SBG’s share is undisclosed, according to a statement made by the government of the Maldives. The project will include the construction of the new terminal on a 78,000 sqm area of reclaimed land in the southwest of the airport island in Maldives, with 12 jetties and six aero-bridges. The government of the Maldives is seeking funding from the China Exim Bank, the Kuwait Fund, Abu Dhabi Fund, and the Saudi Fund for Development. This is SBG’s first contract from the government of the Maldives. (Trade Arabia)
