Saudi Arabia to remove subsidies on seven services starting 2 October

The government is reportedly expected to remove subsidies on seven services starting from the new Hijri year (corresponding to 2 October). The services, which were originally subsidised by 50%, are: ports, passports, car driving licenses, car transfers, traffic violations, renewal of residence permits (iqama) for domestic workers and tariff (customs) protection for 193 commodities. The cabinet also plans to impose municipal services fees and enforce the new visa at the start of the new Hijri year. (Arab News)
