Saudi Arabia to build 16 nuclear reactors in 25 years
Saudi Arabia plans to build two full nuclear power reactors for energy and as many as 16 over the next 25 years, Saudi Press Agency reported. Work has already begun on the first reactor, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. These projects were one of seven in the fields of renewable energy, atomic energy, water desalination, genetic medicine and aircraft design that were inaugurated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, the report said. Separately, Saudi Arabia launched a project to build center for developing aircraft fuselage during a visit to the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh. The center will have one of the largest buildings for developing aircraft in the Middle East with an area of 27,000 square meters (sqm) with plans to expand it to 92,000sqm. The center will have the capacity to manufacture most aircraft structures, whether civilian or military. The initiatives were discussed during the Crown Prince's visit to KACST.
