SABIC subsidiary, Sharq, announces shutdown of three MEG units for maintenance
Eastern Petrochemical Company (Sharq), a 50:50 JV between Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) [2010.SE ]and a consortium of Japanese companies led by Mitsubishi corporation, has announced that it would shut down three of its MEG units for maintenance within the coming three months. The news source mentioned that, MEG unit 2, which is located in Al-Jubail city, would be closed for two weeks in August, while units 3 &4 would be closed in October and September, respectively, for the purpose of maintenance. It is worth noting that MEG units 2,3 &4 have production capacities of 450k tpy, 500k tpy, and 700k tpy, respectively.
