RERA index update for January 2016 shows declining rents in Dubai
Rental rates in most of Dubai’s residential communities have dropped in January 2016, according to the recent report by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). In Dubai Marina, the maximum rent for a one-bedroom apartment fell by 8.3% Y-o-Y to AED110,000 and by 5.5% Y-o-Y for a two-bedroom unit to AED180,000. Rents in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) fell marginally in January as well; rents for a studio fell from AED55,000 to AED75,000 to AED55,000 to AED70,000. Rents for a one-bedroom apartment in JLT fell by 5% Y-o-Y to AED95,000 and by 10% Y-o-Y for a two-bedroom apartment to AED135,000. Rents for a one-bedroom apartment in Business Bay marginally fell in January too, averaging AED80,000 to AED105,000, down from AED90,000 to AED110,000. Apartments in freehold communities such as Jumeirah Village and Dubai Silicon Oasis were roughly unchanged in January. The same applied to rents for studios and one-bedroom apartments in The Greens and Motor City, whilst the rental rates for two bedroom apartments in both areas slightly declined. (Gulf Business)
