Qatari Diar seeks resolution for land dispute before year-end
Qatari Diar (Diar) is seeking a resolution for the dispute over the City Gate land plot before year-end. NUCA is preparing a progress report on the land, ahead of a resumption of negotiations with Diar. Possible outcomes of the negotiations will be either: allowing for an extension without an imposed penalty, an extension with a penalty or a return of a land portion. Construction had reportedly stopped for a number of months at the site, following the equipment theft and vandalism at the site. NUCA had sent warnings to Diar for construction delays. Only 30% of the first phase of the project is said to be completed, with c500 units sold to date. Diar is said to have given its clients the option of stopping paying the due installments and/or redeeming the paid amounts, with no penalties, until construction work resumes. (Al Borsa)
