Parliament gave a preliminary nod on Sunday to amendments to the laws governing the National Authority for Tunnels. The laws will allow the private sector to partake in operating and maintaining the Cairo metro, according to Youm7. The amendments will allow companies to manage metro lines under contracts of up to 15 years, according to MP Mohamed Badrawy. He added that the private sector can help resolve some of the issues hindering the development of the metro service.
