Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi signed into law the amendments of the Railway Act. The newly modified act would allow private sector participation in developing, managing and operating railway projects. Last month, the House of Representatives signed off on the act. According to Youm7, sources said the Ministry of Transport is reportedly already moving to decide which railway assets it will tender to private sector management, and it is planning to establish companies for each railway line that will be run by private players.
