President critical of Parliament on voting down Civil Service Act
President Abdel Fattha El Sisi criticised Parliament for voting down the Civil Service Act, calling the move as contrary to the mandated reform process. Sis urged Members of Parliament to consider their decisions carefully, pointing to the ailing civil service which employs seven million employees “when only one million is needed.” From its side, the government is planning to reintroduce the act to Parliament after making a few amendments, according to the Cabinet’s spokesman.
