PM promises Parliament to end currency crisis

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail told Parliament on Monday that the government was working with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to bring an end to the discrepancy between the official and parallel market exchange rates. The previous currency adjustment – implying the 14% devaluation in March -  had happened "without proper instruments" and had brought about negative effects, Ismail stated, adding that Egypt is “going through a very tough situation”.
