President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has called for Egypt's new parliament to convene on 10 January, state television said on 31 December, more than three years after the old Islamist-dominated chamber was dissolved. The new parliament has 568 elected members, in addition to another 28 appointed by the president himself. (Reuters)
