Parliament Health committee and Chamber of Pharmaceutical producers draft proposals for drug price increases
The Health Committee in the Parliament has backed out from its earlier refusal to raise medicine prices, and is now drafting a proposal for price increases to be submitted to the Ministry of Health and Population. The proposal includes increasing prices by 60% in two phases; 30% for each phase, as well as decreasing the prices of highly profitable medicines to the extent that their profit margin do not exceed 25%. Furthermore, the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Producers suggested a proposal to raise the prices of 15% of medicines by 50%, every six months, starting next year. (Al Borsa)
