Parliament asks government to postpone electricity hike scheduled in July 2017
Parliament’s Energy Committee is asking the Minister of Electricity, Mohamed Shaker, to postpone a hike in electricity prices scheduled between July 2017 and July 2018, committee member El Sayed Hegazy said. The Minister has promised to look into the committee’s request, he added. The Ministry announced last week it is repricing electricity, following the increase in fuel prices as a result of the EGP flotation. The scheduled hike is part of a five-year plan to cut electricity subsidies. (Al Borsa)
