Oman mulls privatisation of PDO’s ‘non-core’ businesses

Oman’s government is studying options for the unbundling of non-core assets of majority owned Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) business with the aim of carving them out as separate corporate entities in preparation for their eventual privatization. The move, according to Dr Mohammed bin Hamed al Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas, is a reflection of the novel ways being explored by the government to help create value and sustain economic development as a counter to the economic downturn.
