NTRA sets new regulations for SIM card retailers

The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has set new regulations for SIM card retailers. Violation of these regulations may result in a fine on the SIM card retailer and the MNO as well. NTRA is finalising the three-party agreement with MNOs and SIM card retailers, which should be enforced starting 20 January, 2016, limiting the diffusion of unregistered SIMs. It is worth noting that NTRA had successfully reduced the number of SIM card retailers to 2,800 from 18,000, following the ban on the sale of unregistered SIM cards.
