New mining law expected to speed up processing of licences
The new mining law is expected to speed up processing of mining licences, enhance and speed up the ability to get access to new projects, as well as bring more clarity to help mining firms to avoid project delays, Kunooz Oman Holding Dean Cunningham said. A mining licence application processing time needs to be streamlined and to be reduced to a shorter period as soon as possible, so mining companies could plan effectively, which will be addressed once the new law becomes effective, Cunningham noted. The new law was recently drafted by the Public Authority for Mining (PAM) and is awaiting approvals from relevant ministries. (Times of Oman)
