The project to build a monorail to link Sixth of October City and Sheikh Zayed City with Giza is reported to have been postponed. A consortium led by Canada’s Bombardier, which included Orascom Construction (OC) and Arab Contractors submitted technical and financial offers for the project in early 2015, while a Chinese consortium led by China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) is understood to have submitted an offer in late 2015. Both groups have proposed an engineering, procurement-and-construction-(EPC)-cum-finance approach, with the Chinese group understood to have proposed providing loans through the Export-Import Bank of China.
