Mobile operators to convene with the Prime Minister to discuss their concerns over the 4G licence terms
Mobile network operators (MNOs) are expected to convene with Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail to discuss their concerns on the 4G licence terms, according to unnamed sources. MNOs are primarily concerned over Telecom Egypt’s (TE) [ETEL.CA] 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt (VFE) and the fact that it is the sole owner of the fixed-line infrastructure in the country. Moreover, MNOs raised their concerns over the privileges given to TE. MNOs had requested additional 4G spectrum. However, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has not responded to that request. MNOs have until 22 September to accept the 4G licence terms.
