Ministry of Health agrees on producers proposals for price increase, under conditions; EIPICO a beneficiary
The Minister of Health and Population has agreed on the proposals proposed by pharmaceutical companies that includes increasing prices of 15% of local producers registered medicines and 20% of foreign producers medicines, every sixth months, but with different rates depending on drugs selling price, according to sources speaking to Al Borsa. The approved proposal by the minster includes: i) 50% increase for medicines selling for less than EGP30, ii) 30% for medicines selling between EGP30-50, iii) 25% for medicines selling between EGP50-100, and iv) 20% for medicines selling for more than EGP100. Al Borsa sources added that the Chamber of Pharmaceutical Producers had submitted a letter to the Ministry of Health requesting increasing prices of 15% of medicines by 50% (across the board of different price levels). It is worth noting that the majority of EIPICO’s (PHAR.CA) medicines sell for less than EGP30.
