The Ministry of Electricity has postponed receiving bids for 250k smart meters tender until mid-August (it was earlier scheduled for mid-July). Elsewedy Electric (SWDY.CA)’s subsidiary, Iskra, is shortlisted amongst 19 companies that include Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Raya, and Siemens, according to a Ministry source speaking to Daily News Egypt. The tender represents a trial project for the installation of  smart meters allocated to six electricity distribution companies and is part of Egypt’s wider plan to install 10mn smart meters in 10 years.
