Ministry of Electricity signs agreement for first phase of EETC transformation into an independent regulator
The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy signed an agreement with advisory firm, EBSI, for phase one of transforming the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company ‘EETC’, into an independent regulator, according to Ministry sources speaking to Al Borsa. Minster Mohammed Shaker added that the transformation of EETC is a crucial step in implementing Electricity Law No. 87 (2015), where one of the articles of the law includes separating EETC from the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (currently affiliate companies under the Ministry’s umbrella), which ensures the objectivity of the power purchase process for the electricity generated by the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company or the private sector.
