Ministry of Communications agrees to discuss with other government entities the possibility of freeing up additional 4G spectrum
Following several requests by the operators for more 4G spectrum, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has agreed to discuss with other government entities the possibility of freeing up 4G spectrum for the operators, according to an unnamed source. The operators had requested a timeline for future spectrum-free up. The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) had allocated 40MHz to offer the 4G service, while the operators have requested a minimum of 60 MHz. In related news, NTRA has responded to concerns raised by Orange Egypt regarding the required minimum quality of service (QoS) when offering 4G services. (Al Borsa, Al Mal)
