Kuwait is planning to invite investors to redevelop a former scrap yard in Amghara area in the Northern Al-Jahra province at a cost of KWD400mn (USD1.32bn), the Arabic language daily Al-Nahar said. The Supreme Planning Council is preparing designs for a sports and amusement complex, a tourist resort, shopping malls, a metro rail network in the future and other facilities to serve nearby residential areas at the site, according to Al-Nahar. The projects are expected to generate at least KWD5mn (USD16.5mn) a year for the government, as the country aims to raise non-oil revenues in order to offset the decline in crude prices. (Zawya)
