Kuwait approves a leaner public tenders law

The country’s legislative assembly has approved a new law for public tenders, to allow foreign companies to compete for public projects without a local agent, which was the requirement for more 50 years. The law also gives the Central Tenders Committee (CTC) the flexibility to choose the second lowest bid, if it is technically better. Also, under the new law, CTC board has been expanded to seven members, three of whom will be replaced every two years. (MEED)
