The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief to Egypt described passing of VAT legislation as an ‘historical achievement’ for Egypt. The Ministry of Finance has drafted a ‘good’ law and that Parliament has opened ‘new channels for discussion’, he said, adding that the IMF is willing to provide technical assistance for implementing and administering the tax.
