The Ministry of Housing has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), with a consortium made up of a number of Egyptian and Chinese companies, for the execution of infrastructure and construction work at the new capital city, according to Moustafa Madbouli, Housing Minister. These companies are: Arab Contractors, Petrojet and China-based CSCES. The preliminary cost of the infrastructure work at the project is estimated at EGP2.5 billion, according to Mohsen Salah, Chairman of Arab Contractors. Construction works include building 13 ministerial buildings, two convention centres, and 15,000 low and middle housing units. The Ministry of Housing has also signed seven MoUs with CSCES for further construction works at the new capital city and also covering water sewage projects in a number of cities in Upper Egypt.
