Health committee to request private sector participation in renovating Takamol hospitals for a share of profits
Parliament’s Health Committee is planning on submitting a request to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) for allowing the private sector to partner with the government in managing Takamol hospitals (small-sized government hospitals that are currently suffering from limited resources) in return for a portion of the profits (likely with a 49% cap, and no ownership), according to unnamed sources speaking to Al Borsa. Meanwhile, The Minster of Health and Population, Ahmed Emad El Deen is set to announce the Ministry’s plan for renovating those hospitals (460 across the country) to Parliament on 17 July, according to Head of Health Committee, Magdy Morshed. The Minster had earlier announced that the renovation cost/hospital would stand at cEGP30mn (sources believe this cost is overstated), according to a preliminary study conducted by the Ministry, during a meeting with the Minster of Investment, Dalia Khorshed.
