Health Committee to discuss raising drug prices with Health, Finance Ministries
The House of Representatives’ Health Committee is looking to hold a meeting with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and companies from the business sector to discuss raising drug prices of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals. This comes following issues raised by pharmaceutical companies, which complained of the high cost of producing drugs compared to the low prices they were sold at. According to a member of the Health Committee, the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, along with its eleven subsidiaries, does not own more than 3% of the total drugs market, with its products being sold for only EGP1-10 on average.
