Government to announce revisions to labour laws on 20 November
The Deputy Secretary of the Supreme Council for Planning, Talal Al Rahbi, said that the government will announce ‘solutions’ to Oman’s labour law issues on 20 November. He noted that a number of manpower and labour laws were addressed in the second phase of Tanfeedh by the private and government sector in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Manpower, and solutions were agreed upon. The government is planning to carry out a survey among the public following the announcement to get feedback, and the implementation of these proposed amendments will begin in early 2017, he added. An annual report is scheduled for 2018 to highlight the growth registered by Tanfeedh in 2017. These reports will annually track the progress of the initiative until 2020. (Times of Oman)
