Government seeks a German grant for 1GW solar energy projects
The Ministry of International Cooperation is negotiating with the German government to secure partial financing for solar energy projects with a total capacity of 1,000MW, through a non-refundable grant, according to the Minster, Sahar Nasr. The Egyptian government had earlier signed with the German government international cooperation agreements worth EUR153mn (loans and grants) to finance renewable energy projects. The Head of the Renewable Energy Authority Mohamed Salah Sobky added that the authority is also in negotiations for funding renewable energy projects with International Finance Corporation, the EBRD, the German KfW Development Bank, the African Development Bank, German Agency for International Cooperation “GIZ”, and the European Investment Bank (Al Borsa)
