Government finalises first phase of agreement with Chinese utility firm, State Grid, for power distribution
The government had finalised the first contracting phase with the Chinese state-owned utility firm “State Grid” that specialises in power transmission and distribution, for handling 1,210 km of high voltage lines at 500 kv, according to Minster of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker. The agreement is aimed at connecting recent power capacity additions, as well as Siemens’s three power plants currently in process (14.4GW). The project's total cost will reach cUSD750mn, to be financed from Chinese banks and will be done through EPC + finance. (Al Mal)
