Government approves 10% pay raise to government employees not included under Civil Service Act
Ministry of Finance approved a measure allowing government employees who do not fall under the Civil Service Act a 10% pay increase, effective retroactively from July 2016. The minimum raise is EGP65/month, while the maximum is EGP120/month. The measure will cost the state budget EGP3.5bn in FY16/17, according to Minister, Amr Al Garhy. Employees of public-sector authorities and institutions will be illegible to receive the raise. The Act stipulates a 7% annual raise and an additional 5% performance-based bonus for a limited number of employees.
