General Authority of Civil Aviation: Nesma and Saudigulf airlines to start operating in 2016
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that the new airline carriers that will start operating in Saudi Arabia during 2016 include Saudigulf Airlines (owned by Al Qahtani Group, linked to Gulf Air) and Nesma Airlines (an Egyptian airline company with a Saudi Arabian joint venture). Nesma Airlines had received its official licence from GACA in November 2015 to operate as a domestic carrier based out of Hail Airport, while Saudi Gulf Airlines received its licences to operate in Saudi Arabia at end of 2012. GACA is yet to announce a fly date for Qatar Airways’ venture Air Maha. (Argaam)
