GE executives meet with President to discuss further investments in energy and transportation
The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, met with a delegation of General Electric executives, including the CEO of the global firm Jeffrey R. Immelt, and in the presence of the Minster of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Minster of Transportation to discuss GE’s cooperation with the Egyptian government, as well as further investment opportunities. The meeting included discussions on areas for enhancing cooperation within solar and wind energy projects, as well as projects for producing some wind turbines' components locally in the industrial zone in Suez, which all fall under the government’s goal of supplying 20% of Egypt’s energy needs from renewable sources. Also, the meeting covered suggestions for environment-friendly non-renewable energy projects in clean coal technology, as well as projects for supporting the national electricity grid. As for transportation, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in supplying and establishing locomotives for rail freight transport and rail transport. ( Al Mal)
