Foreigners buy bulk of Egyptian Treasuries at latest auction; yields drop sharply
Foreign investors bought almost all of the Egyptian Treasuries sold at an auction on Thursday. Overseas buyers purchased 98.5% of the EGP6.6bn (USD372mn) of six-month T-bills sold on Thursday, and 97.5% of the same amount of one-year bills, Samy Khallaf, Head of the Public Debt Department at the Ministry of Finance, said. Central Bank data show yields dropping sharply. The average yield was 17.726% for the six-month bills, down from 19.671% at the previous auction, while the one-year bills’ were 17.725%, from 19.593% previously. (Bloomberg, CBE)
