Foreign holdings of T-bills almost triple since January
Foreign investors’ holdings of Treasury bills have almost tripled since January, reaching EGP60.8bn (USD3.3bn) as of 14 March from EGP22bn at January-end, Samy Khallaf, Head of Public Debt at the Ministry of Finance. Foreign investors also bought EGP3.8bn of six-month and 12-month notes on Thursday’s auction, at which the Ministry sold EGP11.5bn and attracted EGP27.8bn in bids, he said. Yields rose at the auction. Average yield on the six-month notes rose by 73bps to 19.388% and by 69bps on 12-month notes to 19.243%, while the maximum yields were 19.539% and 19.341%, respectively.
