Fate of Telecom Egypt’s 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt to be decided in the next general assembly meeting in March 2017
Telecom Egypt’s (TE) [ETEL.CA] board will decide on the fate of the company’s 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt (VFE) in the next general assembly meeting in March 2017, according to an unnamed source. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Yasser Al Kady, had stated previously in a media interview that there is no obligation for TE to dispose its stake in VFE prior to launching the 4G service. However, TE will replace their board representation in VFE with representatives from the government who are not affiliated with TE in any way, Al Kady added. TE will also consider transferring the stake to TE Investment Holding, its fully-owned investment arm. (Al Mal) Telecom Egypt: EGP11.12 as of 19 Dec, Rating: Neutral, TP: EGP10.25, MCap: USD1,037mn, ETEL EY / ETEL.CA
