Four companies, including Elsewedy Electric (SWDY.CA)’s subsidiary, Iskraemeco, will start supplying 1mn smart meters to nine distribution institutions as per the earlier tender offered by the government. The four companies include: Iskraemeco, Elsewedy Electrometer, Globaltronics and Maasara. The electricity distribution companies have already received three million requests for installment in slum areas until mid-February, but under the conditions set by Cabinet of Ministers to ensure that the  government collects its full dues by limiting illicit usage of electricity, according to Electricity Ministry spokesperson Ayman Hamza.
