Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation called on firms to participate in a bid for the Ras Sidr Airport build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract in 2 July, as MEED reported, citing unnamed sources. The government had first announced the prospect of establishing the airport in 2015 and has allocated land for its establishment. In the following two years, several consortiums expressed interest in developing the project. The airport will be located in western Sinai, a popular destination amongst local tourists.
