Egypt to offer 45% of Banque du Caire shares on bourse in 2Q17
Egypt will offer a 45% stake in Banque du Caire on the local stock market in 2Q17, according to an official from the Misr Financial Investments Company, Banque Misr's investment arm and owner of Banque du Caire. Banque Misr owns 99.99% of Misr Financial Investments Company. Banque du Caire’s capital stands at EGP2.25bn (USD136.2mn), and the bank has c.240 branches in Egypt. Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)’s Governor Tarek Amer said in March 2016 that the government planned to offer some shares in Banque du Caire and Arab African International Bank (AAIB) on the local stock exchange.
