Egypt secures USD6bn bilateral financing required for IMF loan
Egypt has secured the USD6bn in bilateral financing required to secure the USD12bn three-year IMF loan, Minister of Finance Amr El-Garhy said on Tuesday. The country has reached final agreement on a USD2.7bn currency swap with China that requires "only administrative procedures" to complete, El-Garhy said, adding that the rest of the financing has come from the World Bank, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. "Yesterday the Central Bank Governor and I sent the letter of intent. This was the document we still needed to send to complete the procedures," he said. (Reuters)
